On Lake Time is brought to you by Lee and Pam Defibaugh

Lee and Pam moved to Lake of the Woods a few short years ago and immediately fell in love with life at the lake.  They had both grown up in small towns that had many local activities, festivals, and celebrations.  Even the Little League baseball games were cause for a community get together. They anticipated feeling that same type of community spirit here in Locust Grove, and they haven’t been disappointed.

However, it hasn’t been easy amassing and weighing all of the options on things to do.  Although there were some very nice regional websites highlighting key activities and businesses, it was a struggle to find useful information more local to Lake of the Woods and immediately surrounding area.  It also seemed that information had to be sought out from numerous sources and locations. They found themselves combing no less than 45 websites including those from the parks and rec. departments, libraries, wineries, distilleries, restaurants, several newspapers, radio stations, 3 county pages, numerous festival pages and individual websites to discover the festivals, fundraisers, opportunities to volunteer, and local events that they were looking for – often only to learn of them (much to their dismay) in follow-up stories after the event was over and they had missed it.

So, with the strong suspicion that other Lake of the Woods and local area residents would be enthused to have a central “One-Stop-Shop” of useful information, Lee and Pam officially launched this On Lake Time website April 5, 2017.  But it’s more than just a website.  It represents our village and our neighborhoods, motivated to grow into a more knowledgeable and clued-up community.  On Lake Time is OUR (the Lake of the Woods Community’s) website.  Created for us, by us, to bring us together and enhance our lives here.   What would you like to do this weekend?  What organizations are you interested in?  What volunteer opportunities are there in the area?   Want to sell some stuff in your garage?  On Lake Time has information on events, yard sales, restaurants, organizations, volunteer opportunities, a business directory, a community page, and so much more.  On Lake Time also has a facebook page for quick updates and an email newsletter for a more relaxed read.

Lee and Pam sincerely hope that not only will you enjoy the many attributes of “On Lake Time” but that you would also become a part of it by contributing articles, notifications of upcoming events, and submit your input as to what features or resources you would like to see posted.  With your help, On Lake Time will evolve into the community resource everyone would like to have.

How can you become a part of On Lake Time?  Write an article about your group, organization or event.  Are you looking for volunteers – post it here.  Send information on any upcoming events.  List your Yard Sales, Fundraisers, and Help Wanted ads.  If you see something good happening in your neighborhood, please submit an article.  We would love to hear the tips, advice, and life hacks you use to enjoy life to the fullest during your lake time here at Lake of the Woods, Virginia.
