The Orange County Emergency Management Department has a new emergency and mass notification system that will allow the County to send urgent messages to those who are interested and sign-up. RaveAlert replaces CodeRED. RaveAlert will be used to alert subscribers of natural disasters including severe storms, tornadoes, floods, or man-made disasters, such as chemical spills, bio-hazards, and Amber Alerts.

Orange County citizens can add multiple contact modes or select the best contact method for themselves. The system allows subscribers to select from the following methods of delivery: a voice call to home and/or cell phone, email, text message, or through TDD/TTY devices.

RaveAlert will also allow citizens to opt into the Smart911 program without having to re-register. Smart911 allows citizens to provide the additional details that 9-1-1 call takers may need in order to assist them during an emergency.  This site allows you to list pets and even pictures of them so first responders can be aware of this in certain situations like a fire.
